Coaching isn’t just a profession for me; it’s a passion that drives me every day. My journey to mastering coaching skills has been deeply influenced by mentorship, which has been a cornerstone of my professional development. From the beginning, I had the privilege of being mentored by remarkable individuals like Axelle Warnery-Hertzeisen, Tania Leger and Geraldine Gauthier, whose guidance laid the foundation for my coaching career. I am thrilled to share how this journey has been shaped by the guidance of exceptional mentors like Dr. Marcia Reynolds, MCC, and Julius Ordonez, MCC, ACTC.

The Passion for Coaching

From the very beginning, coaching has captivated me with its potential to create meaningful change in people’s lives. My passion lies in helping individuals unlock their true potential, overcome obstacles, and achieve their personal and professional goals. This drive to make a difference is what inspired me to pursue advanced training and seek out mentorship from leading experts in the field.

Meeting Dr. Marcia Reynolds and Julius Ordonez

During my Advanced Professional Coaching Course, I had the privilege of being mentored by two distinguished figures in the coaching world: Dr. Marcia Reynolds and Julius Ordonez. Dr. Reynolds, renowned for her book "Coach the Person, Not the Problem," has profoundly impacted my approach to coaching. Her philosophy emphasizes the importance of focusing on the individual rather than merely addressing problems. This perspective has enriched my coaching practice, enabling me to connect more deeply with clients and support them in a more sustainable way.

Julius Ordonez, with his extensive expertise and certification as an MCC and ACTC, provided invaluable insights into advanced coaching techniques. His mentorship refined my skills and broadened my understanding of complex coaching dynamics. The combination of Dr. Reynolds’ and Mr. Ordonez’s guidance offered a well-rounded approach to mastering coaching skills, enhancing both my theoretical knowledge and practical application. This is further supported by the requirement to practice our skills in 500 hours of real client situations.

The Impact of Mentorship on specific Skills development

Mentorship plays a crucial role in personal and professional growth. Each mentor leaves an indelible mark on our journey, shaping our perspectives and refining our skills. For me, the mentorship of Dr. Reynolds and Mr. Ordonez has been transformative. Their guidance not only deepened my understanding of coaching but also inspired me to continually strive for excellence.

Mentors offer more than just technical skills; they provide wisdom, encouragement, and a model of professional integrity. They challenge us to think critically, act ethically, and push beyond our comfort zones. The lessons learned from these experiences become integral parts of our professional identity, influencing how we approach our work and interact with our clients.

My Conclusion

Mastering coaching skills is a journey marked by passion, dedication, and the guidance of exceptional mentors. My experiences with Dr. Marcia Reynolds and Julius Ordonez have profoundly influenced my coaching practice, equipping me with the skills and insights needed to support my clients effectively. Dr. Reynolds, with her 35 years of experience, and Mr. Ordonez, with his extensive expertise, have provided invaluable guidance that has significantly shaped my approach. Learning from the best who share the same values and in alignment ICF competencies can indeed create meaningful shortcuts on this path.

Mentorship is a powerful force that leaves lasting impressions, shaping our professional paths and contributing to our growth as coaches. I am committed to aligning my practice with the ICF's rigorous certification standards, core competencies, and methodology, ensuring that my coaching is both impactful and ethical.

As I continue to evolve in my coaching career, I am deeply grateful for the mentorship that has guided me. It is through these valuable relationships that we find inspiration, build expertise, and ultimately, make a greater impact in the lives of those we serve.
